The system of getting a license to breed a dog (DOG LICENSE) was introduced years ago. According to the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1998, all dog breeders are required to obtain a license. The condition is that the application should be submitted to the panchayat office within 1 month of adopting the dog. Otherwise the penalty is Rs. 250 for the first time and Rs. 50 for every subsequent day if the offense is repeated.
