How much alcohol can a person possess in Kerala?

 

Government Order GO (P) No. As per 17/2012 Dtd 14/2/2012, the limit is fixed (Age above 21 years)

1.5 liters of toddy

IMFL (Foreign Liquor) 3 liters

FMML 2.5 liters

3.5 liters of beer

3.5 liters of wine.

Under the Excise Act 15C, alcohol is not allowed in public places. Homes and private living rooms (Hotel Room) are excluded from public space.

The car is considered a public place under excise law.

* Do I need a license to serve alcohol to guests coming home on special occasions? *

By law, an FL-6 license must be obtained. However, the High Court ruled that a temporary license could not be enforced as the house was a public place.
